SN 1193 Raymond Hunt Design Custom 48

It isn't often you step on a vessel verging on 40 years old that is truly immaculate. There is simply no other way to describe this time machine vessel other than "as-new". Calling her "as-new" is almost a little unflattering, as I am sure the work involved in restoring Avalon Two would come close to being more than most modern shipwrights could manage. She was originally built by David Pleysier in 1979 from the designs of famed naval architect Raymond Hunt. The timeless designs of Ray Hunt can be seen in various reputable brands still in existence today such as Bertram, Boston Whaler, Chris Craft, Four Winns, Grady-White, Grand Banks, Hinckley and more. His most significant contribution to the field of vessel design was the creation of the high-deadrise, deep-V hull which revolutionized the development of fast powerboats.

During her complete renovation in Perth, Western Australia in 2012, Avalon was stripped down to the stringers, re-glassed, re-powered and re-sprayed. There are receipts for over $1 million spent on the rebuild and it is completely understandable when you step on board. The modern Cummins CTA 83 engines showing only 288 hours are extremely economical at a 17 knot cruise speed, yet deliver a sprint speed of 30 knots. A vessel like this with proven sea-keeping ability does not come along every day. A beam of 4.77m allows for stability at rest and at sea, large rear cockpit for fishing and entertaining, spacious and light-filled saloon and comfortable sleeping quarters.

Long range fuel tanks with a capacity of 3800L will give you a cruising range of roughly 1000nm at 10 knots. Go to the Abrolhos and back! Never be without water with a Citor desalinator and 300L water tank. The 250kg ADC Davit on the bow launches the 3.3m BRIG tender with ease, a must have for running around the bays of Rottnest and ferrying your friends and family around the islands.

Everyone will be impressed with the sheer amount of refrigeration Avalon has on board. A commercial grade drawer style fridge/freezer in the galley, a large chest fridge/freezer in the cockpit, a small drinks drawer in the flybridge and of course a quality icemaker.

The accommodation is substantial and well arranged. A master cabin to Port has a custom sprung mattress for ultimate comfort and an en suite. The forward V-Berth can either be arranged as 4 singles or simply lock in the insert and convert the lower two bunks into a large double bed.

This incredible launch is one of the special few vessels that can compete with the newest releases in performance yet stay as timeless and alluring for decades to come. She will be sold turn-key with nothing needing attention, I strongly urge you to book an inspection but don't make plans after as you simply will not want to disembark! Any serious skipper looking for a Viking, Bertram, Caribbean, Hinckley, Ocean Yachts, Precision or Key West should take the plunge and make the smartest move of your boating career.
